Most of my studio work is related to inner landscapes.
Each piece evolves slowly from initial gestures of impulsive brush strokes. As they build upon each other, indefinite forms emerge, sometimes reminiscent of rusted metal structures, decaying industrial matter, or scars on the skin. These are mingled with and integrated within a complex and subtle atmosphere.
For the last eighteen years, most of my studio work has been abstract. I have called these works "abstract landscapes".
The Sky Series:
In the last couple of years, my obsession with the atmosphere and the evocative quality of the light has led me to slowly to depart from this abstract approach.
Although all my paintings start from an abstract composition they gradually evolve into paintings of skies: the ones that I see, the ones that I imagine and those that my brush strokes reveal to me.
